Food has always been at the heart of my life. Of my most cherished memories, a majority has come from shared meals at local restaurants. For me, restaurants are not about food- they represent something greater: connection, joy, and the creation of lasting bonds over a shared meal. For years, I’ve spent hundreds of hours trying to find the perfect spot to enjoy- yet time and time again, I’ve found myself disappointed by restaurants that looked promising but turned out to be less than stellar. Why? Because the food promotion industry is filled with shady deals, where promotional videos are exchanged for free meals. I believe that this misrepresents restaurants but, worse, leads people like you and me to waste their time and money on a mediocre experience.
Frustrated by this, I decided to found Rate the Best Dish, a platform to serve one critical mission: to rate each dish honestly and uncover Boston’s best culinary treasures.
Through my content, I hope to empower everybody, from restaurant owners to customers. For restaurants, I hope to give an unbiased platform for hidden gems to be showcased, so that restaurants who pay for illegitimate reviews do not overshadow mom-and-pop undiscovered restaurants. For customers, I hope to provide an easy to understand review through a new streamlined rating system. The A+ to F scale rates food taste, with A+ representing the best food I’ve ever had, and F indicating something inedible and potentially a health hazard.
While my content mainly consists of reviewing restaurants, my longer term goal is to support them by showcasing what makes each one special. All of my reviews are authentic; while I grade critically, my goal isn’t to tear down restaurants but to encourage restaurants to tinker around and be the best they can. I hope that everyone from restaurants to customers feel safe to voice their opinions constructively, so that everyone can benefit.
Looking forward, I’ll be updating my restaurant rankings to include a category for value for price. Also stay on the lookout for a list of every restaurant I’ve eaten ranked, from every category ranging from casual to fine dining.
Ultimately, Rate the Best Dish was created because I wanted something that I could rely on in searching for the perfect meal. Through my content, my hope is that I can provide some value in helping create an unforgettable dining experience for you.
